CFD CO & Smoke Analysis: J.W. Marriot, Kolkata, Car Parking Basement (Ductless Ventilation - Jet Fan)

The aim of this analysis is to project to prevent CO (Carbon Monoxide) poisoning during normal mode & smoke stagnation during fire mode inside a car parking basement. This is achieved by optimizing the ventilation system to remove contamination inside the basement. Using CFD the location of the jet fans are optimized for effective ventilation. The smoke simulation will be carried out using 5MW t-Square(ultra fast) fire curve.

Conclusion

  • Stagnation & re-circulation region present inside the basement has been effectively removed.
  • Tenability condition of 35ppm for 1 hour exposure has been achieved during normal mode.
  • Simulation & the boundary conditions has been considered as per standards.
  • The smoke as be completely removed within 10min of fire stop.
