Objective
The area of interest is the fire exit staircase in buildings. The objective is to maintain the recommended pressure range inside the staircase. Adequate positive pressure should be maintained such that smoke does not enter the staircase and at the same time, pressure should not be large enough to prevent the occupant from opening the door.
Results
- Simulation has accurately predicted the pressure variation in the staircase.
- The simulation was carried out for multiple worst case scenarios, like considering multiple door open and still maintain adequate recommended pressure.
Based on the CFD result, the locations of the pressure sensor/pressurization grill/pressure relief damper have been placed for optimum performance.
