CFD THERMAL COMFORT ANALYSIS: Saint Gobain R&D Center, IIT Madras Research Park

Objective

The aim of this Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis is to examine the effectiveness of the designed air conditioning systems for the “1st, 2nd & 3rd floor of Saint Gobain R&D Center, IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai” such that it provides a favourable working condition for its occupants/equipment and meets the required standards. The area of interest would include large/small office space, large/small conference room, cafeteria, library & lab areas. The specific objective is as follows,

  • The temperature must be maintained below 20°C and the temperature gradients in the area of interest must be low.
  • The RH must not be more than 60%
  • The velocity gradients must be low.

Based on these requirements, CFD analysis was carried out to achieve optimum air-conditioning system.
