CFD Analysis to Optimize the Climate Control System of Large Thyristor Valve Room, Power Grid Corporation of India.
Thyristor Valves are massive devices that can switch power in the scale of megawatts, these valves are extensively used in High Voltage Direct Current(HVDC) conversion stations for long-distance power transmission. These valves are highly sensitive to temperature & RH variations. The objective of this analysis is as follows,
- The relative humidity(RH) must be maintained bellow 50% at all times.
- Low Air velocity gradients with optimized flow profile must be maintained inside the valve room, such that it does not hinder the functioning of the smoke detection system(VESDA system).
Based on the above requirements, a series of CFD analysis was carried out to identify the best climate system.
